"Aquinas: Strategies and Methods" International Conference

Scholars from all over the World will discuss a social aspect of St. Aquinas's production:
the strategies and methods he adopted when dealing with different philosophical and
theological problems. During a conference "Aquinas: Strategies and Methods," organised at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw on May 28-30, 2025, we will hear before all such distinguished professors as: Constant Mews, Harm Goris, Eleonore Stump and Timothy Bellamah.

“In order to gain truth and present it to the readers or listeners, it is essential to know how to do that. Aquinas’s investigations and presentations are always ordered according to certain patterns and governed by ideas, which he often explains. They also follow clear methodological frameworks” – the organisers say.

For this reason, on the 800th anniversary of his birthday, they decided to “focus on strategies he adopts in different types of his production and methods he applies both as a theologian and as a philosopher.” “We are going to examine the importance and the consequences of such choices, as well as their motivations and inspirations.” – they add.

The conference will be held at: Krakowskie Przedmieście 3, Warsaw, in the Library Reading Room (room 118), except two keynote lectures which will take place in room 116. The admission is free. Everybody can come to listen and take part in the discussions.

The event is organised by the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, and co-organised by the Faculty of Theology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, in collaboration with partners, including the Tilburg School of Catholic Theology and IGTM – International Society for the Study of Medieval Theology, Thomistic Institute in Warsaw and the foundation Pro Futuro Theologiae.
