Job opening (moral theology) in Fribourg

In from the esteemed Fr Michael Sherwin, OP (in Fribourg):

Mark,

I want to give you and your web readers a heads up about a post here in Thomistic moral theology. My colleague, Luc-Thomas Somme is returning to France and thus we are looking for his replacement. Ideally we would like a Dominican, but any qualified Thomist moral theologian who can speak French and English would be seriously considered and very much encouraged to apply.

Fr Sherwin included a PDF with more details.

Philosophy posting at Wyoming Catholic College

The people at the Wyoming Catholic College have a philosophy posting for this coming fall:

Wyoming Catholic College seeks to hire a full-time professor of Philosophy, to start teaching September 2009.  The applicant shall be knowledgeable in the philosophia perennis or classical philosophical tradition as embodied particularly in the works of Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, and St. Thomas Aquinas.  He or she will be capable of teaching the full range of philosophy courses offered at the College, ranging from natural philosophy and metaphysics to ethics and politics (see Catalog, pp. 67-71), and ideally in possession of a doctorate in philosophy.  Because of the College's integrated academic curriculum, the applicant should also be conversant with a wide variety of humanistic and theological texts.  A candidate who demonstrates aptitude for teaching in disciplines other than philosophy (e.g., science, theology) would be considered as a teacher for those areas as well.

Christendom College: one-year position in Classics for 2006-2007

This is a tangential connection, but when it comes from Albert the Great and Thomas Aquinas scholar, Steve Snyder, how could I refuse? Here is what he wrote:

Christendom College is advertising a one-year position in Classics for 2006-2007. The description of the position is attached. We would be very grateful if you would post the ad in your departments and call it to the attention of qualified individuals you might know. As you will see, we will do a national search for a full-time, continuing position the following year. For the 06-07 one-year position, an M.A. in Classics, or equivalent competency in Latin or Greek, is sufficient. Please emphasize to any you contact personally that enthusiastic agreement with the College’s mission statement (on the web) is a sine qua non in all Christendom hiring.

Thank you for your help. Christendom students are a delight to teach, and the faculty, administration, and chaplains are congenial and without exception mutually supportive.

Thanks once again for any help you are able to give!

Steve attached a file with the specifics of job-posting, which I’ve converted to a PDF file.

Chronical for Higher Education job-listings in RSS

The people in the Careers Section of the Chronicle for Higher Education have made the contents of their job-listings available on-line, which you can access by clicking here. In addition, they’ve also made those listings available in an RSS newsfeed. Here are the addresses for the philosophy newsfeed, and the religion newsfeed:

You’ll be getting these items one week later, I believe, than those who subscribe to the on-line service or to the Chronicle itelf. But since the due-dates for applications are usually a month or two in the offing, you’re not suffering for it.
