Who established the Melody for this great hymn?

St. Thomas's hymn "Pange lingua gloriosi corporis" is based on the opening words of the famous Passiontide hymn "Pange lingua gloriosi proelium". The melody often sung today is the same as that used for the Passiontide hymn, which dates from the early middle ages.
