New Book: Aquinas and the Theology of the Body
As the seventh volume of their Thomistic Ressourcement series, Catholic University Press has recently published Aquinas and the Theology of the Body: The Thomistic Foundations of John Paul II's Anthropology by Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P.
In his book, Fr. Petri argues that the philosophy and theology of Thomas Aquinas substantially contributed to John Paul II's intellectual formation, which he never abandoned. On his account, a correct interpretation of the Theology of the Body requires, therefore, a thorough understanding of Thomistic anthropology and theology.
Fr. Petri's work will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the philosophical and theological assimilation of St. John Paul II's thought and magisterial teaching.
An interview with Fr. Petri regarding his new book can be found here.
Fr. Petri is currently the Vice President and Academic Dean at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC.
